Audio Delivery Evidence

Give each audio delivery event its own evidence

An aired radio spot, a streamed ad and a podcast file delivery can contain the same creative. Their operational records and measurement limits differ.

Illustrative radio, stream and episode contexts. Each retains its own delivery unit and evidence limits.

An audio group may sell an over-the-air commercial, insert the same creative into its digital stream and distribute it within a podcast episode. The group can reconcile income across those products, but one combined impression count can hide how each was delivered and what the evidence establishes.

Keep three operating records

Environment Evidence to reconcile Limit to state
Broadcast radio Accepted order, approved creative, traffic and as-aired record. A booked spot is not an airing or a listener-level exposure.
Streaming audio Eligible cue, decision, insertion or supported playback and fallback. Server insertion and client-confirmed listening are different evidence.
Podcast delivery Eligible episode delivery, marker, inserted ad and applicable validation. A downloaded file is not proof of a completed human listen.

For broadcast radio, a compatible automated order-to-traffic route can help transact a scheduled spot. The over-the-air feed remains common to its receivers. Its separately distributed internet stream has a different delivery chain.

For streaming audio, trace the audio opportunity through the supported insertion and playback method. A companion card needs its own eligible visible rendering; a listener can hear an ad with the screen locked without seeing that card.

For podcasts, distinguish the replaceable dynamic audio slot from a permanently embedded read. Host-read describes the creative style; it does not, on its own, establish whether the ad can be replaced.

Say what the podcast method can prove

IAB Tech Lab's podcast measurement guidance distinguishes server-side file delivery from client-confirmed exposure. State the provider's method, validation and reporting window. Do not rename a delivery record as a completed listen when that evidence is unavailable.

An owned player can provide additional signals if implemented and validated. A podcast carried as a platform-managed video also follows that platform's own reporting. Neither automatically changes the evidence available for open-feed audio delivery.

Choose the exception list with an actionable loss

An unaired booking needs traffic reconciliation. A missing stream cue needs an insertion review. A popular back catalogue without valid dynamic markers needs hosting and catalogue work. A single audio fill figure would conceal these different decisions.

For a first setup, establish one opportunity and its revenue recipient in each environment you actually operate. For an earning group, select the clearest supported fault and compare correction, retained income and listening continuity within that environment.

Finance can consolidate income after aligning currency, allocations and relevant costs. Operations should preserve each delivery unit and evidence limit. Audio & Radio and Improve Ad Revenue connect these distinctions to a practical review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about audio delivery evidence and how a monetization review can begin.

Can automated buying work with ordinary broadcast spots?

Where a compatible order-to-traffic workflow exists; it does not imply one ad per receiver.

Can the companion card be counted with every audio ad?

No. Its eligible visible rendering and commercial terms need separate proof.

Does a podcast download establish a completed listen?

No. State the supported server-delivery method, or separately identify validated client-confirmed playback where available.

Can one audio revenue number hide an operational fault?

Yes. Separate booked and aired radio, requested and played streams, and podcast delivery or insertion before reconciling net receipts.
