Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about choosing the right work, protecting the audience experience, measuring retained income and starting a scoped monetization review.

Getting Started & Fit

What does MonetizeDesk help us do?

Launch a first programmatic setup, investigate revenue losses, manage an agreed ongoing operation or prioritize work across several media properties. The starting point is the advertising opportunity you control and the decision your business needs to make. Compare the four services.

Can you help if we already earn advertising revenue?

Yes. Improve Ad Revenue reviews a supported gap in your current operation. Start Programmatic Monetization establishes a first eligible setup. A working operation may need a narrow correction rather than a replacement.

Which media do you work with?

The site covers Web & Apps, Games, TV, Video & Streaming, Audio & Radio and Digital Screens & DOOH. Each environment has its own placements, delivery systems and reporting. Find your media to see the relevant operating scope.

Is there a fixed audience minimum, or must we own several properties?

No fixed minimum is published here. A single property can support a focused review when control, potential value, technical feasibility and useful measurement justify the work. Portfolio Revenue Management addresses decisions across several properties; it is not a requirement for starting.

What makes an ad opportunity eligible?

Confirm who may sell the placement or time, permitted use, supported delivery, required approvals and a workable commercial and reporting route. Traffic or subscriber totals alone do not establish sellable inventory. The specific provider also determines its own eligibility and acceptance.

What if a distributor or another seller controls part of the inventory?

Identify each party's actual allocation and revenue share before offering availability. A channel, app operator and distributor may control different positions in the same viewing session. CTV, FAST & TV OS Control explains the allocation question.

Can we keep a setup that already performs well?

Yes. The review records productive placements, direct commitments and existing income before proposing a test. If the evidence does not support a change, preserving the setup can be the right decision. How We Work explains the review and approval process.

What should we bring to the first conversation?

Describe the property, current monetization, main markets, broad audience scale, responsible teams and the question you want to resolve. Start through Monetize With Us. Detailed reports and authorized access follow an agreed scope; account credentials do not belong in the initial description.

Where should we start if our media does not fit one category?

Select Other or Several types on Monetize With Us and explain who controls the ad placement or moment. The first decision is whether an existing route fits or a separate feasibility review is needed. A listed format is an example, not automatic confirmation of support.

Can brands and agencies discuss a campaign?

Yes. For Advertisers explains campaign planning and coordination with appropriate buying and media partners. Use Discuss a Campaign for that inquiry. Publishers and media owners use Monetize With Us for their own advertising revenue.

Formats & Audience Experience

How does a medium differ from an ad format?

The medium is the environment you operate, such as a website, game, channel or screen network. The format describes where and how the ad appears within it. Ad Formats illustrates placements; the relevant media page explains control and suitability.

How do we choose a format without harming the audience experience?

Begin with a permitted moment, technical support and evidence of useful delivery. Test timing, size, frequency and return to the product alongside retained income. More placements or a higher quoted rate can still reduce reading, gameplay, viewing or listening value.

Do all rewarded game ads require the same opt-in flow?

No. Opt-in rewarded video starts with the player's choice. A rewarded interstitial uses a supported transition flow; for example, Google AdMob requires introductory reward information and a skip option. Define the qualifying event, grant and failure handling for the actual implementation. An ordinary interstitial does not offer that reward exchange.

Are a portal-page ad and an in-game placement the same inventory?

No. The host can control an ad beside the game while the developer or another authorized party controls a moment inside the canvas. Distribution terms determine integration and revenue shares. H5 Portal vs Game Inventory explains how to separate them.

What must a video or live ad break deliver?

The authorized cue and window must lead to suitable ads, supported playback and a correct return to content. An ad pod contains several spots in one break; each needs the applicable evidence. Test missing ads, partial fill and fallback before launch. Live Break Cues & Fallback follows that chain.

Can a pause ad run on any connected television?

The app must control the pause placement and support its delivery, creative and reporting. A television home-screen placement may belong to the operating-system provider instead. A compatible device alone does not establish either party's selling authority. CTV Apps explains the app environment.

Does every audio ad include a visible companion card?

No. A companion card needs a supported visible placement and separate rendering evidence. A listener can hear a streamed audio ad while the screen is locked. Audio delivery should not automatically be counted as a display impression.

Can a podcast ad change after the episode is published?

A supported dynamic insertion route can fill or replace an eligible episode slot. A permanently embedded read has a different delivery model. Host-read describes the creative style, not whether it is replaceable. Podcasts explains hosting, markers and measurement.

Can films, series and live sport use virtual advertising?

Potentially, where rights, production approvals, suitable insertion, distribution and delivery evidence support the execution. An automated buying route must also exist before it is described as programmatic. In-content scene variants, virtual sports-feed signs and physical venue screens are different products.

Are the pictured formats actual client campaigns or available on every device?

The site uses illustrative placements and fictional creative to explain the ad experience. They do not establish a client result, live inventory or universal technical support. The proposal qualifies the actual property, device or screen, approvals and commercial route before a pilot.

Revenue & Measurement

Why can audience grow while advertising income stays flat?

A visit may not reach an eligible placement; a request may receive no usable ad; a returned ad may fail to display; reported revenue may differ from retained income. Trace the supported gap before adding demand or ad load. From Eligible Audience to Paid Ad provides a diagnostic map.

Does fill rate prove paid delivery?

No. A filled response can still fail to render or play, and the applicable payable event follows the provider's measurement and commercial terms. Keep requests, usable responses, delivery evidence and financial recognition distinct rather than treating one total as proof of the next.

How do you calculate the owner's retained income?

Agree on the revenue basis, owner allocation and relevant selling, technology and operating costs. Separate estimates, adjustments and actual receipts. When evaluating a change, also consider displaced direct income and added costs; those opportunity costs should not be silently mixed into a provider's reported revenue figure.

Should we optimize CPM or revenue per active user?

Choose the measure that answers the decision. Cost per thousand impressions, or CPM, does not explain the entire owner result. Ad revenue per daily active user, often called ad ARPDAU, can help a game comparison when its revenue basis is consistent. Read it alongside retention, purchases, progression and retained income.

Can we combine all media into one impression or audience count?

Keep the delivery units separate: website rendering, game exposure, video playback, aired broadcast spots, streamed audio, podcast file delivery and screen plays establish different things. Finance can consolidate comparable retained income after aligning currency, allocation and costs. That consolidation does not establish one deduplicated audience.

What baseline makes a pilot comparison useful?

Define the property, eligible segment, period, event definitions and revenue basis before testing. Use a suitable control or comparable periods and account for seasonality, audience mix, direct commitments and product changes. For a first ad setup, establish delivery and product baselines without inventing prior advertising income.

How much improvement can you guarantee?

No fixed uplift, ad price or demand level is guaranteed. The review identifies a supported hypothesis and a limited test. The result records delivery, retained income, product effects and measurement limits so the owner can decide whether to keep, revise, expand or stop the change.

How do we separate a pilot's contribution from existing revenue?

Identify the changed inventory and existing baseline, then document competing explanations and excluded revenue. A limited placement test does not justify assigning every change in whole-site income to the work. Any performance compensation follows the agreed scope and contribution method.

What happens if the test earns less or affects the product badly?

Use the agreed stop or rollback criteria, inspect the delivery and product evidence and document the result. Protecting stronger direct commitments and the audience experience is part of the comparison. A failed hypothesis is a reason to revise or stop, not to expand automatically.

What if provider reports and payment records disagree?

Preserve each source's event definitions, time zone, reporting window, adjustments and allocation. Reconcile the discrepancy by property, placement or period before consolidating it. Requested, delivered, recognized and paid amounts can differ; one dashboard total does not resolve all four.

Technology & Operations

Will we need to replace our existing technology?

The review identifies the specific gap before proposing an integration or provider change. Keep working components where they fit the scope. Integration is an implementation task within the agreed work, not an additional fifth service. How We Work explains the staged approach.

Which infrastructure and providers will be used?

The route depends on the media and confirmed support: website tags, application integrations, video insertion, broadcast traffic and screen scheduling are different workflows. The proposal identifies the relevant provider roles, approvals and commercial responsibilities. A media page or format illustration does not establish a contracted partner for your property.

Who approves and implements a production change?

The scope assigns the owner’s commercial, product, engineering, advertising operations, traffic or venue teams and the relevant providers. Authorized teams approve the release and its limits. Coordination, implementation and continuing operation each need stated responsibilities; submitting an inquiry does not authorize an account change.

What reporting or account access do you need?

Begin with business context. If a scoped review needs reports or technical access, agree on the minimum necessary information, permissions and transfer route. Prefer authorized role-based access where supported; for YouTube, use appropriate channel permissions rather than a Google password. Keep passwords, keys and private exports out of the preview form.

What makes a website or application integration ready?

Test the eligible placement or moment, valid request, supported rendering or playback, reporting and revenue data path. Check relevant devices, layout or workflow, performance and user controls. Readiness follows the actual property and implementation, rather than one successful ad on a test device.

What makes a game reward integration ready?

Follow the intended offer or transition through the qualifying ad event, the supported grant mechanism and return to play. Test unavailability, interruptions, failed and duplicate grants. Product outcomes matter alongside delivery; a clicked button or ad completion report alone does not establish a successful reward.

How are failures and fallback handled?

Define the supported fallback, stop criteria, intervention owner and recovery path before release. A stream may need approved filler or continued content; a game needs a coherent state and grant decision; a screen network must preserve required messages. Unpaid fallback is tracked separately from paid execution.

Can direct campaigns and reserved commitments retain priority?

The pilot records their allocations, exclusions and priorities before exposing eligible opportunities. Technical configuration must support the commercial rules. Compare any displaced direct income when assessing a new route rather than assuming every added programmatic sale is incremental.

Does ongoing management include around-the-clock event coverage?

Coverage follows the agreed operating scope. Managed Monetization can include defined monitoring, issue ownership, tests, reconciliation and reviews. A live event or venue window needs named coverage and escalation; a diagnostic alone does not establish continuous operations.

What happens when a provider changes or the route is unsupported?

Record interfaces, reporting ownership, permissions, responsibilities and recovery requirements so alternatives can be assessed. Verify the new route's technical and commercial eligibility before switching. If support or approval cannot be established, document the constraint and stop at feasibility.

Working Together

Who should make the initial inquiry?

The owner, authorized operator or a team member who can introduce the relevant decision-makers. A useful discussion involves the people responsible for commercial decisions and the affected product, technical, finance or operating work. Monetize With Us is the publisher and media-owner route.

Does Submit send an inquiry in this private preview?

No. Both the publisher and campaign forms currently validate the preview flow without sending or storing your details. No inquiry or follow-up is created by submitting them. Real delivery, recipients and applicable privacy details must be configured before the forms can receive requests.

Will the newsletter dialog create a subscription?

No. Get Insights currently opens a preview subscription form. It does not send or save an email address, and checking the form does not create a subscription. Email newsletters are not offered here as advertising inventory.

What would happen after a live inquiry?

Once a working submission route is configured, the intended next step is a fit review and, where relevant, a focused conversation. Any diagnostic, report request, technical access or implementation follows an agreed scope. An inquiry by itself is not a contract, provider approval or permission to act.

Does the first conversation include a complete free audit?

A fit discussion determines the question and suitable next step. A full diagnostic has separately agreed deliverables, information requirements, responsibilities and commercial terms. The inquiry form does not promise a complete audit or start one automatically.

How are fees or revenue share agreed?

Diagnostic, implementation and recurring work can use different commercial structures. Agree on the scope, deliverables, fees and any performance component before work begins. A variable component needs a defined baseline, affected inventory, revenue basis, costs and exclusions. No fixed public price or percentage is quoted here.

Who receives advertising payments?

The confirmed provider, account and contract structure determines settlement and each party's allocation. Establish the revenue recipient, payment basis, deductions and reconciliation responsibilities for the engagement. The site does not promise one payout method or account arrangement across all media and markets.

How do we share confidential information or arrange an NDA?

After fit and scope are established, agree on the necessary information, authorized recipients, transfer route and applicable confidentiality or data terms. These arrangements belong in the agreement. The preview form is not a channel for confidential operational files or account credentials.

Can the engagement end after the diagnostic or pilot?

Yes, when scoped that way. A diagnostic can identify a no-change decision; a pilot can support keeping, revising, expanding or stopping the route. Implementation and continuing management are separate decisions with their own terms, responsibilities and access arrangements.

What concrete result should our team expect?

The agreed stage can produce an inventory-and-control map, delivery and income baseline, prioritized issue, limited test plan or operating review. The result states responsibilities, evidence, economics and limits so the owner can make a decision. How We Work connects each stage to its output.

Specialist Media

Can you add external bidders to native YouTube advertising?

YouTube manages its native advertising and monetization controls. A channel review works within supported eligibility, settings and reporting; it is different from selling ads in your own video player. YouTube determines Partner Programme acceptance. YouTube Channels explains the review scope.

How should we read YouTube views and RPM?

Views, monetized playbacks and individual ad impressions are different measures. RPM combines revenue sources, while Estimated ad revenue isolates advertising; Shorts RPM uses engaged views. Compare the applicable format and reporting period using YouTube's metric definitions. YouTube Views, Revenue & RPM explains the diagnostic approach.

Who sells ads across a CTV app, FAST channel and television home screen?

The app, channel, distributor and operating-system provider can have different rights and allocations. A FAST channel may control only part of a distributed break. An independent app does not automatically own TV home-screen inventory, or vice versa. Map the actual seller and share before consolidating income.

Does a satellite spot reach each DTH household with a different ad?

A common satellite feed carries the same transmitted spot to its receivers. Separate regional feeds are distinct distribution products. Receiver-level replacement additionally needs an authorized allocation, supported devices, delivery, fallback and verification. The total subscriber count is not the eligible replacement audience. Compare the delivery paths.

Can every PC or console game sell intrinsic advertising?

Feasibility is title-specific. Establish supported integration, permitted surfaces, platform approvals and exposure evidence. A loaded game-world sign does not establish a qualifying view. PC launcher and console storefront inventory have separate authority from the playable title. PC & Console Ad Exposure explains the first checks.

Can ordinary broadcast TV and radio spots use automated buying?

A qualifying route can connect accepted orders with creative approval, traffic and actual airing. The over-the-air or common channel feed remains shared; automation does not itself personalize every receiver. Broadcast & Linear TV and Broadcast Radio explain their operating workflows.

Does a podcast download prove that the listener heard the commercial?

No. State the supported file-delivery method, validation and reporting window. Server-side ad delivery and validated client-confirmed playback are different evidence. IAB Tech Lab's measurement guidance explains the distinction. Keep broadcast airings, stream delivery and episode delivery separate in an audio group report.

Is one digital-screen play one person or a uniquely reached audience?

No. Reconcile the creative, actual screen, time and available display-health evidence for playback. Audience impressions use a separate declared method; repeated estimated exposures do not establish unique reach. Location and daypart can support contextual selection without identifying every passerby. DOOH Play & Audience Evidence explains the reporting limits.

Do venue and stadium screens include shopper data or television reach?

Screen ownership does not itself establish purchase-data access, shopper attribution or broadcast rights. Whole-venue footfall is not automatically each display's audience. Stadium boards follow physical screen allocations, sponsors and the actual event window; television viewers and virtual-feed ads need separate authority and evidence. Stadium & Arena Screens.

What evidence supports an in-content or virtual placement?

Identify the approved scene or feed, original and advertising variants, distribution scope, commercial route and supported evidence of the actual delivered version. Live production also needs timing and fallback. A convincing altered image alone is insufficient. In-Content & Virtual Owner Map distinguishes films and series, live feeds and physical venue screens.
